6:15am – Yahooooo! YipYip! Good Morning to Ya! The trails are in fabulous shape for the weekend. We didn’t get the warm temps forecasted yesterday which is great for grooming and skiing. The trails were lightly used yesterday so the groomer is focusing his efforts on the Dickey area and the River Trail. Yep, you read that right…

The River Trail is opening today!!!

Much of the River Trail is on PRIVATE land. We have been granted use of this land with strict and fair expectations from the landowners.

It is very important that trail users respect the rules.

 *NO DOGS OR BIKES ON RIVER TRAIL. Skiers and Snowshoers Only!

 *No Walking on trail without skis or snowshoes.

 *Stay on the Groomed Trail.

 *You are required to have a pass from the Izaak Walton Inn to use this trail.

8:30am – GROOMED – Essex Road, Highline, Essex Creek, Pileated, Starlight, Cabin and Caboose Lanes

At 6:30am, it is currently 15 degrees with cloudy skies. The forecast is calling for a high of 36 degrees with cloudy skis and a 30% chance of snow after 11.

The groomer is heading out and plans to start out on Essex Road and Pileated.

Over-cast skies and 18 degrees here in Essex this morning; our groomer is making a few passes on our trails for folks to come and chase some sunshine!

We are starting the year off right. Even though the temps are warm, the groomer is reporting nice corduroy streaming out of the back of the machine.

10:30am – Grooming Complete! Guests are raving about the trails today.

9:15am – The groomer said things are continuing to come out top notch! We are holding at 31 degrees. GROOMED so far:

Starlight (Track Set), Caboose and Cabin Lanes, Spring Hill, Essex Road to Kendi’s (Track Set), Kendi’s Crossing (Track Set), Pileated (Track Set), Towering Pines (Track Set on Up), Essex Creek Loop (Track Set on Up), Highline (Track Set on Up), Junction Circle, Upper Dickey Portion of Loop

Currently Grooming some of Dickey Road and will head back to the Inn from Dickey Road on Essex Road

6:30am – It is currently 31 degrees on the back porch of the inn. The National Weather Service station for Essex is not currently updating, it hasn’t since 8pm on Dec 30. Not since last year! At the last station update, we were forecasted for a high of 31 and mostly cloudy skies. We received 1 inch of snow in the last 24 hours. Our settled base is around 34 inches.

So far, Starlight and Spring Hill have turned out nicely. The groomer is heading up Essex Road towards Kendi’s Crossing.  If conditions and temperatures permit, we should get most of the trails beautified today!
